Today’s post is again about one of my favorite places in Edinburgh – Union Canal. I spend a lot of time here – in the beginning of my stay here in Edinburgh I used to walk or cycle here to Craighlockhart campus from Stockbridge. Now I use the canal for canoeing as I am a member of Forth Canoe Club . The Union Canal is a wonderful path for walkers, cyclist and for me in a canoe, with wildlife and a lot of green eye candy.
Sometimes when I am out paddling I meet weird creatures in the water, not Loch Ness though! – But in the from of plastic bottles. plastic bags, bikes and other human trash. I am so much against this and I don’t understand human behavior and especially adults throwing stuff away while their children are watching! Shame on them. I have also seen the workers maintaining the grass at the Union Canal getting rid of the waist in the water, so the Canal is filled with grass and branches, not good to prevent flooding!
So when I saw this post, I was trilled and I am defiantly going to write to them – so could you if you live in this neighborhood. We can all help to improve this lovely place!
